Občianske združenie Fotoforum vzniklo v roku 2004 za účelom zastrešenia Medzinárodného salónu umeleckej fotografie Fotoforum Ružomberok. Medzinárodný salón patrí medzi najstaršie a najvýznamnejšie fotografické podujatia na Slovensku, vysoko hodnotené na medzinárodnej úrovni. Od svojho vzniku v roku 1967 je každoročne organizovaný v Liptovskom múzeu v Ružomberku.
Súťažné podujatie je určené pre prezentáciu najnovšej tvorby profesionálnych i amatérskych fotografov a zúčastňujú sa ho autori z celého sveta. Je organizovaný pod patronátom Medzinárodnej federácie fotografického umenia (FIAP). Medzinárodný salón sa už roky teší vysokej návštevnosti a záujmu zo strany odborníkov z oblasti fotografie i širokej verejnosti. Výstavu si prichádzajú pozrieť nielen obyvatelia Ružomberka, ale aj návštevníci z celého Slovenska.
V roku 2022 sa uskutoční už 54. ročník. Aktivita organizátorov začína pozývaním autorov umeleckej fotografie z celého sveta formou propozícií. Pokračovaním je príprava zasadnutia medzinárodnej odbornej poroty a samotná práca poroty. Odbornou porotou vybraté fotografie tvoria výstavný súbor vystavený v Liptovskom múzeu v Ružomberku v októbri daného roku. Na slávnostnej vernisáži výstavy sú oceneným autorom udelené ceny a čestné uznania. Záver aktivít je zameraný na vrátenie fotografií zúčastneným autorom a vyhodnotenie podujatia (november).

The civic association Fotoforum was founded in 2004 to cover the International Exhibition of the Artistical Photography Fotoforum Ružomberok. The International Salon is one of the oldest and most important photographic events in Slovakia, highly rated internationally. Since its inception in 1967, it has been organized annually at the Liptov Museum in Ružomberok.
The event is designed for the presentation of the latest work by professional and amateur photographers and is attended by authors from around the world. It is organized under the patronage of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP). The International Salon has been enjoying high visibility and interest from both photo professionals and the general public for years. The exhibition is coming not only to the inhabitants of Ružomberok, but also visitors from all over Slovakia.
In 2022, the 54nd edition will be held. The organizers‘ activity starts with inviting artists from all over the world by means of sentences. The continuation is the preparation of a meeting of the international expert jury and the work of the jury itself. The expert jury of the chosen photograph is an exhibition set exhibited at the Liptov Museum in Ružomberok in October of that year. At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the award-winning author is awarded prizes and honors. The conclusion of the activities is aimed at returning photos to the participating authors and evaluating the event (November).
